Hydrogen bonding between solutes in solvents octan-1-ol and water.
The 1:1 equilibrium constants, K, for the association of hydrogen bond bases and hydrogen bond acids have been determined by using octan-1-ol solvent at 298 K for 30 acid-base combinations. The values of K are much smaller than those found for aprotic, rather nonpolar solvents. It is shown that the log K values can satisfactorily be correlated against α(H)2·β(H)2, where α(H)2 and β(H)2 are the ...
متن کامل3-Anilino-1-(isopropylamino)propan-2-ol
The title compound, C(12)H(20)N(2)O, was obtained by the reaction of N-(oxiran-2-ylmeth-yl)aniline and propan-2-amine. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into chains parallel to the b axis.
متن کامل1-(Piperidin-1-yl)-3-(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)propan-2-ol
The title compound, C(17)H(27)NO, features a bufferfly-shaped substituted 2-propanol having an aromatic ring on the 1-carbon and a piperidine ring on the 3-carbon. The piperidine ring adopts a chair conformation and its N atom shows a trigonal coordination. In the crystal, the hy-droxy group inter-acts with the N atom of an inversion-related mol-ecule, generating an O-H⋯N hydrogen-bonded dimer.
متن کاملThe kinetics of oxidation of ethanol, propan-l-ol, butan-1-ol and propan-2-ol by NAD+ and of reduction of acetaldehyde and butyraldehyde by NADH catalysed by yeast alcohol
1. The kinetics of oxidation of ethanol, propan-l-ol, butan-1-ol and propan-2-ol by NAD+ and of reduction of acetaldehyde and butyraldehyde by NADH catalysed by yeast alcohol dehydrogenase were studied. 2. Results for the aldehyde-NADH reactions are consistent with a compulsory-order mechanism with the rate-limiting step being the dissociation ofthe productenzyme-NAD+ complex. In contrast the r...
متن کامل5-Aminopentan-1-ol
The title compound, C(5)H(13)NO, is an aliphatic amino-alcohol with both functional groups residing on terminal C atoms. Apart from the hy-droxy group, all non-H atoms are nearly co-planar, the maximum deviation of an atom taking part in the least-squares plane defined by the mentioned non-H atoms being 0.029 (1) Å. In the crystal, O-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect the mol-ecules, forming ...
